Disney World is the ultimate destination for family fun and magical experiences. With its thrilling rides and enchanting attractions, there’s something for everyone.
However, one important aspect that guests should be aware of is the height restriction policy on certain rides.
These guidelines are in place to ensure safety for everyone, particularly younger guests.
In this article, we’ll explore why height restrictions exist, provide an overview of some popular rides with height requirements, and offer tips to make the most out of your Disney World adventure.
Why Does Disney World Have Height Restrictions?
Height restrictions at Disney World are designed primarily for guest safety.
Different rides have varying speed levels, physical movements, and seating configurations, which can pose risks to guests who are below a certain height.
These restrictions are set based on extensive safety research, considering factors like seat restraints and the ride’s overall design.
While it might be disappointing for younger children to miss out on certain attractions, these guidelines help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

Once you return, you can take over the child and the waiting adult can try the ride without waiting in the regular queue.
To Use the Rider Switch option, check with a cast member near the ride to ensure the ride offers a Rider Switch facility.
The entire group will be directed to the greeting Cast Member who will ask at least one adult in the group to accompany the child to the designated waiting area.
After the first group returns, the waiting adult can board the attraction without waiting. A Cast Member must validate the rider switch entitlement at this point.

Concerns Visitors have about the Height Restriction
1. I am planning to visit Disney World and I am 6 ‘5″. I am unable to find maximum height restrictions, what do I do?
There is no maximum height restriction if you can fit in the ride and secure yourself. You can approach the cast member to find out if they have seats with more room, ride alone for extra space, or check test ride vehicles outside the queues.
2. I am visiting with my kids who meet the height requirements. However, due to my health condition, I won’t be able to ride with them. Can I go through the lines with them and exit as they get on the ride?
If the kids are above 7 years old and meet the height restriction, they can ride alone.
3. I am visiting with my family – 2 adults and our child who is 45 inches. Can he try all the rides if we accompany him?
Since the kid is 45 inches, he can try almost all rides. There are few rides in Hollywood Studios and the water parks that require a minimum of 48 inches. Unfortunately, he can not ride them even if one of you tries to accompany him.
4. Are there any age restrictions or height requirements?
No, there are no age restrictions. All kids who meet the height requirement are allowed on the ride. However, they can ride alone only if they are above 7.
5. Are the height restrictions at Disney World very strict? Is there any trick to escape them?
I am visiting with my toddler (20 months). Is there any ride we can try together, I am afraid we might not get to enjoy any ride together.
6. My kids reach the height requirement but she is only 5 and I’m worried about letting her ride. Will it be safe to let her ride despite her age?
It is important to note that the height restrictions are placed to ensure the safety of the children.
It is based on the safety of the rider rather than the intensity.
Hence if your kid meets the height restriction, the ride is safer for her.
7. I am pregnant and my husband will go on all the rides with the kids. Is there somewhere I can wait until they return? How would I get to the exit if I did not get through the ride?
You can wait in line with your family until they get on the ride and then ask a cast member where the best place to exit would be. They will direct you toward the most convenient exit location to get back with your family.
8. Is there any age requirement to use Ride Switch? Can my 9-year-old accompany my 6-year-old while I take my 8-year-old on the ride?
Unfortunately, you can not leave your 9 and 6-year-olds alone for Rider Switch. The supervising adult for rider switch needs to be at least 14 years.
9. If I am visiting with two kids and one does not meet the height requirement, can the cast member stay with the kid until we return from the ride?
Cast members are not permitted to wait with children. Instead, you can try Disney World’s childcare provider who will take care of your kid in the hotel room.
